This question comes to me over and over again. The answer is simple. . . Yes they should. Do we not care about family and friends? Do we not encourage generosity between people? Are we not advocates of spending time with those you love?
Remember why you are Atheist, you are Atheist because you do not believe in god. Christmas is a religios holiday but a Christmas is about caring, giving, love, and time with friends and family. Atheists agree with ever part of Christmas other than it’s religious basis, and for that spend more caring about others and less about a story.
This is a powerfull message all atheists should watch. The more atheists sit back and do nothing, the more they watch and “respect” others beliefs the closer the world comes to an end. I ask for very little from you all, tell your friends and tell your families you are Atheist and you will live a life worth living for, because it is all the time you have.
Now, it would be rude to clam this as evidence against religion. It is not, it is just a way of undermining religion with respect. Because, there are a lot of religion jerks out there who take claims like the one above and twist the meaning.
I just wanted to make those Atheists out there smile a little knowing that Atheism is a path to a more fulfilling life, as long as you take the initiative to make it as fulfilling as possible. There is no man in the sky who will do it for you.
The whole issue on gay marriage is so funny to me. I am not gay so my apologies to those who are gay and can’t get married but I honestly can not be upset by something so stupid. Not surprisingly religion is to blame for the punishment of people who only want to live their lives in peace.
It is only a matter of time before gay marriage are recognized. But the question of how they are recognized is more important. Will it be because people of the US learn to respect others and allow them to be happy doing what they choose to do? Or will religion continue to grow and eventually destroy itself causing an uprising of sorts? At our current rate we it seems like that latter will be true. It is sad though, because so many people will die in the process.
As counter intuitive as this sounds it is easier to be wrong than right. When you are wrong in an analytical system such as school or work your errors are noticed and simply make you look bad. Here is the funny part, when you are not in a analytical system your errors become truths. When there is nothing to challenge your claims you look correct or at least intuitive.
